Warhammer 30K: Plastics Preview

I love the Horus Heresy series. I never got into much fiction based around Warhammer 40,000, but I love this series. It deals with far more understandable motivations and is not mired in the conspiracy, counter-conspiracy, authoritarian bureaucracy and general bullshit of the ‘normal’ 40K universe. Simply put, it is both grim and dark, but does not have 40K’s overwhelming stench of ‘grimdark’. I’ve fallen behind on the novels in recent years, but my interest was piqued in the last few days when some images started surfacing.

Below are some pictures that supposedly show some new Space Marine models which are to be released as part of the Horus Heresy (Warhammer 30,000) box set. What is interesting is that they are full injection-moulded plastic models like most of the Warhammer 40,000 line and not the resin productions of Forgeworld, who have been handling pretty much all of the Horus Heresy releases to date:

Ultimately, they are still just Space Marines, as will be most of the 30K releases, but it’s cool that Games Workshop seem to be recognising what the fans want and are adjusting their releases accordingly. It’s good that the Horus Heresy will not be an entirely Forgeworld-led endeavour!
