It seems to me – and I may be wrong – that Steam has sales going on almost as often as it does not. I know that sounds negative, but it’s not a complaint. It’s nice to get cheap games, and the Steam sales are really my opportunities to buy pointless crap that I would not buy at any other point. My latest haul, gathered during the current “Lunar New Year Sale” is evidence of that…
This time, I have picked up:
- Space Run
- Ironclad Tactics
- Guardians of Orion
- Strike Suit Zero: Director’s Cut
All for the princely sum of £16.90. Three of these are games that would not even have come to my attention had they not been featured in the sale. Does this make me a chump, buying crap simply because it is on sale? Possibly, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the past by similar purchases, such as the Torchlight series and Endless Space.
As an aside, I was really disappointed that, given the Chinese flavour of the sale, there were no offers on any of the games based on my favourite Chinese novel, Three Kingdoms. No reduction for Dynasty Warriors, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 remains sitting at £67.99 and with no English translation. Boo and hiss!
