Hobby Update 18/05/18: Adventures in EuropaMay 18, 2018
This week saw another game making its way out of the pile of shame! Scythe has been on the pile for quite a while and I’m delighted that it’s finally made an appearance on my table. I started off with a two player game of it against my wife:
It went really well! The game was different to what I had expected, and we weren’t sure it would be one that we’d play much together, but it actually went down really well. This will be a game that we revisit in the near future.
I’ve also been doing a bit of painting this week. On the plus side, I’m working towards my slow-grow list, but I’ve also not prioritised it very well. I seem to be focusing on the Lord of Change rather than the items in my immediate, 500 points list. Oh well, at least I’m enjoying it:
Thursday saw our usual games night with the Northern Knights and it was nice to see some other members playing X-Wing. I particularly liked one player’s custom repaint. He very much wears his patriotism on his sleeve, as you can see:
My Thursday evening saw me breaking Scythe back out. This time, it was for a four player game and the scoring was very close by the end.
The game went down really well with the group, all of whom shared my thoughts that it wasn’t what they’d been expecting and yet, it did really work. I need to get a bit braver and spread out a little more with my forces for the next game. Another couple of hexes would have won me the game, so that’s a goal for next time.
Speaking of next time, catch you next Friday!
