Harper Puts Out Cool Discworld Reading Guide

Publishing house, Harper, has put out this really cool reading guide for the Discworld series, written by the late, great Terry Pratchett.  There have been reading guides around for the Discworld series for years, as it less a single series and more a collection of sub-series.  In this infographic, by Maggie Searcy, the different sub-series are all colour coded into a ring around the disc:

As I said, there have been plenty of these guides around for a while, but it’s nice to see some “official” recognition of how to read this series, and also to get a nice, visually appealing product.

There are a couple of oddities in the chart, though, as it does not recognise crossover books.  For example, I would have included Raising Steam in the City Watch series.  It is primarily an Industrial Revolution novel, but it does heavily involve City Watch characters.  Similarly, I think it’s a stretch to place The Amazing Maurice in the Death series.

Quibbles aside, I am really glad to see this.  It’s cool and useful.  What more can you ask?

  1. Hello.

I know it’s a long shot but would like to find out if you know of a way I can buy myself this same exact reading guide poster. The reason I ask is, my boyfriend bought a book or something just for the Discworld guide, which I carelessly creased in different places. I’d like to surprise him with a new one if possible, and would appreciate any response.

    • It’s only the jpeg I’ve seen. You can put an image into google for a search, so you could try dumping it in and see if any shopping results come up.

Long shot, but quick and worth trying.
