Fantasy Flight Games Reveal X-Wing Wave 10 Models at Gencon

Fantasy Flight have revealed the latest wave of miniatures for the X-Wing Miniatures Game.  Gen Con is such a fun time for this sort of thing!

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Upsilon Class Shuttle

The first ship is the Upsilon Class Shuttle, the ship that Kylo Ren used to descend to Jakku in The Force Awakens.  It’s a larger ship, like the Falcon or Slave 1, but this one will also add some new stuff to game, including persistent conditions such as Kylo Ren’s “I’ll show you the dark side”:

It’s good to see the game evolving over time.

This is not the prettiest ship around, and I’m not the biggest fan of the visual style it uses, but it does seem interesting.  It’s also a ship that I think repainters will do a lot with to make it more visually interesting.

The second ship is the Quadjumper.  If you struggle to recognise this ship, that would be because it never actually got into the sky in the movies.  This is the ship that Rey and Finn were heading for during their escape from Jakku.  It was blown up and, as a result, they had to settle for taking the Falcon.  Faction-wise, this is a Scum and Villainy ship.  I haven’t really followed the development of this faction, so I am unsure of where it fits in synergy-wise, but it does have a cool look to it.

The unique thing about this ship is the maneuver dial which, according to Fantasy Flight, has “no fewer than six different speed “1” maneuvers.”  Sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a missile platform.

Sabines Tie Fighter

Finally, is the ship I have been waiting for.  I was swithering over painting up my own version of it, but now I don’t have to!  This is Sabine Wren’s masterpiece Tie Fighter from the Star Wars: Rebels TV show.  I love Rebels, and have wanted to field one of these for a while.  The fact that they are releasing this is also putting a hold on my plan to paint a B-Wing orange to represent the prototype version featured on the show, as maybe they will end up releasing that repaint as well.

Fantasy Flight promise that this will be more than just a repainted Tie Fighter, with lots of cool extras and options thrown in.  The card above, “Sabine’s Masterpiece”, opens up a few options right off the bat.  I need to pick up this and the Ghost when I get a chance!
