Pssssssst. Psssssssssssst. Psst. Hey! Wanna know a secret? You may not have noticed from all the other posts on here, but I freakin’ love Malifaux. Needless to say, when I saw that the latest Bundle of Holding featured the Malifaux roleplaying game, Through the Breach, I was all over it.
As is the norm for these bundles, there are two tiers. The bundle site describe the first tier as:
For just US$14.95 you get all six titles in our Starter Collection (retail value $80) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the Fated Almanac and Fatemaster’s Almanac core rulebooks (retail $30 apiece) and four one-session “penny dreadful” adventures, ideal for introducing the Gothic, necromantic-industrial city-state of Malifaux.
This tier gives you everything you need to really get started with the game. The Fated Almanac gives you the core rules for the game and contains everything that the players need to enjoy the game. The Fatemaster’s Almanac provides expanded rules and advice for the GM. These are the two core books for the system. The remaining books from this tier give you a range of one-shot stories to play through, which is a great way for new GMs to ease themselves into the system.
The second tier expands on the contents of the first, adding in a couple of rules supplements and a few more stories to play through:
And if you pay more than the threshold price of $28.82, you’ll pursue Advancement and also get our entire Bonus Collection of five more titles (retail value $86), including the indispensable rules supplements Into the Steam and Under Quarantine (retail $28 apiece) and two full-length adventures that build on them: Northern Aggression (retail $10) and A Night in Rottenburg (retail $15). And we’ve just added another “penny dreadful”: Bad Blood (retail $5).
Into the Steam adds a fair bit to the game, expanding the setting north of Malifaux and opening up more character creation options. The coolest thing in this book is the ability to play as a sentient machine. Under Quarantine similarly expands the setting, this time into the quarantine zone (duh) and the sewers. Like Into the Steam, this book opens up lots of new options for your characters, with the biggest being the ability to play as one of the undead. The remaining books open up more cool stories for you to play through. Wyrd have been really good at supporting this game with lots of these little story supplements.
If you’d like to pick up this bundle, you can visit the offer page by clicking here. As usual, 10% of your bundle price will go to charity. In this case, the charity chosen by Wyrd is Reading is Fundamental.
See you on the other side!
